It is a real shame that this game is on at the same time as the Premier League match. It would have been nice if Wests had played this match on a Sunday so the Bears fans could come to watch.

I think we have been improving in and i think we can beat Wests at Campbelltown like we did earlier this year.

Another indication of how the lack of alignment between the PL and JF draws is disadvantaging North Sydney.

I wasn't at the match because i was at Premier League but i heard the halftime score was 20-6 to Wests and fulltime was 20-16. Good work by the Bears to win the second half 10-0.

Does anyone else know anything about the match? Who played? Who scored? What happened?

According to the Sun Herald the Bears scorers were:
Chris Heasman 2, Arnold Mano tries; Gavin Duncan 2 goals.

I read on the Magpies forum that Blayden Baird set up both tries for Heasman with offloads.

Magpies match report:

Flegg Fight Off Bears
Written by Wests Football Club
Monday, 05 June 2006

This was a must win for the Magpies who were trying to remain in touch with the top eight. The game started well for the Magpies who skipped away to a 10 nil lead after tries were scored by Shannon Gallant, who was returning after a long absence due to injury, and Teason Fa'avae-eli with a goal to Brendan Waters.

The Magpies played determined football for the remainder of the half, with further tries to Dean Rysko and Nua Alone, with a conversion from Warren Williams which saw then go into the minor break leading 20 - 6.

The coach stressed the need to remain focused and follow the game plan, but as in recent weeks, the Magpies failed to go on with the game which allowed the Bears to force their way back. The Bears scored two further tries but the Magpies held on to win 20 - 16.

Scorers for the Magpies - Shannon Gallant, Teason Fa'avae-eli Nua Alone and Dean Rysko with 1 goal to Brendan Waters and Warren Williams.

Best for the Magpies - Dean Rysko, Shannon Gallant, Warren Williams.
