|Rabbitohs Development Coach Matt King spoke to www.rabbitohs.com.au about the growth and progression of a host of the Rabbitohs’ young, talented players, and the joy he gets from seeing these players reach their potential and grow to new heights.
“It’s been an amazing transformation for a lot of our boys,” King said.
“For our under 18s there was a massive number of them that came up.
“There was nine of the boys that came up, and seven of those boys have debuted for Dave Penna’s 20s which is an amazing number when you consider last year we had two out of the SG Ball team.
“So it’s been a really great progression for those guys, and from the start of our 20s season a lot of those guys have gone into the Bears.
“(Norths Coach) Benny Gardiner is looking after them now, the likes of Liam Coleman and Tevita Cottrell, these types of players, which is really great.
“But the ultimate success I guess is someone like Siosifa Talakai who was in the SG Ball last year, came up to the 20s, played a lot of games for the Bears and he’s had two or three games in first grade now.
“So the progression is working without a doubt at South Sydney.”
