Watching it on television, it looked a very healthy crowd, a lot of red and black to be seen. A good result for the Bears - not as convincing as the week before but enough. The final score was 22-8, but for a while it looked as if the Bears would have another one of their second half fade outs.

There were no changes to NS's squad - how often do we say that?

North Sydney Bears 22 (Billy Smith 3' 7' 77', Bradley Deitz 27', Matt Ikuvalu 73' tries; Brock Lamb 28' conversion) df
Newtown Jets 8 (Jackson Ferris 12', Tyla Tamou 58' tries)
Half time 14-4

Not a great day for the boot - for both teams, there was only one conversion from seven attempts.

The scoring went as follows:

NS try - Billy Smith 3' NS 4-0

NS try - Billy Smith 7' NS 8-0

Newtown try - Jackson Ferris 12' NS 8-4

NS try - Bradley Deitz 27'
NS conversion - Brock Lamb 28' NS 14-4

Newtown try - Tyla Tamou 58' NS 14-8

NS try - Matt Ikuvalu 73' NS 18-8

NS try - Billy Smith 77' NS 22-8
