- I hope Chris Walker is back from injury for this match. Jamie Feeney will be a chance of playing.

Hopefully we win. This match counts towards the Frank Hyde Shield. It is really important we play for the 80 minutes and don't give away any cheap points because the Frank Hyde Shield could be decided on for and against.

The Frank Hyde Shield is the trophy which is played between Newtown and North Sydney. Over the past couple of years it has been played over 3 games, being a preseason match and two home and away matches.

This season Newtown and Norths the series will be played over two games with the first leg at Henson Park this Saturday.

The shield is named after Frank Hyde as he played for both clubs. He also played for Balmain and was a NSW rep. He would more than likely played for Aust but WW11 got in his way. Mr Frank Hyde was the captain of the 1943 North Sydney A Grade runners up team.

Go you Bears this week end.

Not that I'm able to be at either unfortunately, but it's pretty poor that the Premier League and Jersey Flegg games clash this week. Both games are on Saturday, JF at Campbelltown at 2:30 (v Wests) and PL at Newtown at 3:00 (v Newtown Roosters). There should be full alignment between the PL and JF draws - whichever team has the bye in PL should play Central Coast in JF. Newtown plays all its home games at 3pm, but there's no reason for WS to play at 2:30. It's a stand-alone game - WS PL has a bye and Wests Tigers is playing on Sunday at Telstra.

Will there be a presentation of the shield after the game or is it going to be like a normal Saturday or Sunday game???

Also, what time will people be able to get there if the Premier League game is the only game happening at Henson Park??

I had intended travelling up, but that was before my gravity fed hotwater system located in the ceiling overflowed and flooded the lounge room. Never mind. Go the Bears!

All the best, Frank

TFF sends best wishes to the great Frank Hyde, who at the age of 90 is gravely ill. Australia's most beloved rugby league commentator had a stroke last year, turned 90 earlier this year, and is still holding on, but was diagnosed last week with a serious problem. TFF speaks for an entire community, Mr Hyde, when I say we really wish you and your family all strength.

Half time was 18-10 to the jets.

with seconds on the clock the score was 22-16 (a converted try difference). The Jets had a scrum 10 metres from their line. Norths won the scrum against the feed. But then the ref called the scrum misfeed. At first he said it went into the second row then he said the scrum was not straight!

The bell went a few seconds later and so the Bears missed what would have been their second sucessive draw.

The effort in the second half from the Bears was terrific they really deserved a draw.
