Just letting everyone know that we are constantly getting flooded by spambots, registering and trying to post.
While we have effectively prevented the majority of posts, we still are left with these accounts. There is no way for us to tell which accounts are legit and which are not. So we watch the user names and delete them based on that.
So if you create an account with a name that doesn't sound like a person like trev42 or 26c4u, expect it to be deleted.
Unfortunately in all of this, legit accounts will be occaisionally be deleted and until we can prevent the spambots from registering, this will continue.
So please be patient if your account disappears, we're simply cleaning up the spam mess |

There appears to be problems with the website. Hopefully they will be rectified soon. |

Seems like a lot of suspicious recently registered persons with odd names that has lead to some interesting stuff appearing on here.
I would check out back to registered user 1490 because it seems each time I log in, there is a new registered user.
Any way to stop them getting in and stuffing up the website? |

I run a forum also PHP, not sure if this version supports but what we did was create afew custom entry fields into the registration and profile sections.
(I did this completely from admin capabilities and no server access.
For example our is a motorcycle forum.
So we added to options.
One, the registeree had to enter the bike they ride to be able to register (set so that nothing written is not acceptible
ALso created a custom field which states Q: 25=2
If they dont type 27 it wont let them register. |

I run a forum that caused me lots of heartache about 3 years ago so I set up a registration requirement which everyone wishing to join or remain had to answer. I was/am lucky that I have a great bunch of members (1000+)
Everyone had to complete by the start date which I gave originally 3 months notice. Not everyone completed the info and just left so at least I no longer had a problem.
