I thought someone might like to see a team list from 1965- Norths finished second on the ladder. Some great names here.

Actually speaking of 1965 does anybody know what became of Jeff Simmonds? There is an article on him in August 'Rugby League Life'. He played for Norths in 1965, had an accident later that year and became paralysed. he was working at Norths leagues and was related to Kenny Irvine. Just wondered what happened to him.

I'm pretty sure Jeff Simmonds still works at Norths Leagues Club.
Welcome to the forums. Great contribution so far. |

The lower grades are interesting. Players that became well known in First Grade as I remember were George Ambrum ( of course ) Dinny O'Bryan, Jim Schroeder, Warren Chatfield and Glen Whitney.
With regards to the Easts lineup. Did Ken Stonestreet play for Wests before or after this?
I wonder if the three Gallaghers were all brothers?
Someone recently told me about a "Gallagher" from around that time that was a "hard man" who had a private boxing match with Tim Bristow. Organized by "colourful racing identities" Forgot who he said won.
Wonder if it was one of these Gallaghers.
Great posts Mark! Keep em coming. |

That would be Frank Hyde's son Greg Hyde at fullback in our 3rd grade.
KC Mick Maher also played a lot of first grade. |

Thanks Angry on that Ken Stonestreet question.
With the Wests line up there is a Steve Winter. I think he played for Norths as well. Could be wrong. |

How could I leave Mick Maher out. He is one of the legends from that period. |

I know Jeff pretty well and don't think he is working at the club anymore, although more than likely you'll see him there pretty regularly for raffles and the like [/quote] |
