One of the nice guys of rugby league. Loved it when he used to work down at the club and he would always stop by for a chat with me and Dad.

I recall one day he scored 3 tries in Reserves and came on and scored one in 1st Grade.

Hope I get to catch up with him one day.

Also known as 'Trotter' for his high stepping running action. Great bloke. always friendly, and could go for 80 minutes. I think he worked at the Leaguesy.

Today they had a Classic Match from 1992 - BEARS vs Brisbane @ Lang Park, 1992.

Gavin Jones sent off 12th minute. Referee? One guess.....bearded grub of a thing.

Gee the Bears were gutsy - it was a great game and none of the sterility that infests the present day game.

Trotter was all over Steve Renouf and Ray Warren / Sterlo acknowledged as much.

The Bears were beaten 28-22: Greg Barwick had a shocker, but how good were our little blokes - Jason Martin and MArk Soden......they were smashing the big Bronco lumps like Brett Plowman and Gavin Allen.

Smoke Caruana scored a ripper of a try from dummy-half 25m out, and gave the Broncs a scare, but a never say die effort by the bears.

Trotter was a great servant of the Bears. Malabi I vaguely remember something like that too - 3 tries in reggies, and one in first grade.

For the record we had a poor season in 1992, and the Broncos went on to win the comp - their first.

Next year on May 23rd in front of 20,000 people we smashed them 40-20! Quite possibly my favourite all time win.

Spotty owns a few donut kings on the coast. Great guy and still in great shape. Played for Wyong for a few years before giving it away. Did a bit of video analysis for them over the last few years whilst Paul Stringer was coaching.
