The draw for the Harvey Norman Women's Premiership is at www.nswrl.com.au/siteassets/2019/03/20190220-harvey-norman-womens-premiership-nsw-master-draw-2019-version-1.0.pdf but it's stupid-as. For rounds 1, 5, 6, 11, 12 and 14, ALL teams have byes. Why bother calling these rounds at all? Imagine if the men's comp had that.

There are eleven teams, and NS plays the other ten once.

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
CRL Newcastle
Cronulla Sutherland Sharks
Mounties
North Sydney Bears
Penrith Brothers

They have lined up the Round numbers with those of the Canterbury (NSW) Cup, however they play less rounds overall.

The Bears have built a solid squad, by retaining the majority of last year's players and picking up 3 players who were part of the 4 team women's NRL contested by Broncos, Roosters, Warriors and Dragons. The new players should give us some extra class, being centre Shontelle Stowers, hooker Nita Maynard (both Roosters) and second rower Teuila Fotu-Moala from the Brisbane Broncos.

I gathered that, but why? It's stupid. What sort of competition starts the season by giving all teams a bye in round 1? This wouldn't happen in men's sport. Women's sport has come a long way in the last few years, but still has a long way to go before it's treated with the same level of respect.

A 14-10 win to the Bears over Cronulla today in Round 2, after trailing 10-6 at half time. North Sydney scored three tries to two. The match details are at www.nswrl.com.au/draw/nsw-womens-premiership/2019/round-2/sharks-v-bears.

NS tries
Nita Maynard 18'
Teuila Fotu-Moala 42'
Shontelle Stowers 56'

Conversions 1/2
Claudia Bell 19'
The website says just 1/2 - maybe the other was beyond her kicking distance?

North Sydney's team is below - three changes from the named team, although two of these are changes of number.

1. Shenai LENDILL
2. Sera KAUKIONO
3. Shontelle STOWERS ©
4. Lexi KIRIWI
5. Pier PRITCHARD
6. Claudia BELL
7. Sabrina GREEN
20. Nicole BACKHOUSE (originally named no. 8)
9. Nita MAYNARD
22. Aliti NAMOCE (replaced no. 10. Leti SAGONO)
11. Hannah GRIFFITHS
19. Teuila FOTU-MOALA (originally named no. 12)
13. Josephine MAEJIIRS
14. Raevyn DIXON
15. Isabella PARKMAN
16. Brittany MERLO
17. Stephanie-Kay ZAKARIJA

Coach: Robert Capizzi
